In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we are mapping our research, curriculum, business practice and partnership-building against the Goals, in order to understand where we are doing well and where we can improve.
The ICR’s Sustainability Advisory Group was created in 2020 alongside our existing HSEQ strategy to understand and mitigate our risks. It is of great importance to us that we continue to improve the environmental performance of our estate and operations while increasing positive action toward a sustainable future among our staff, students and visitors, whilst making the discoveries that defeat cancer.
We manage our environmental impacts through the internationally recognised standard ISO14001, which provides practical tools for us to identify, manage and continually improve our environmental impacts across all our activities and sites.
We have taken a number of actions to encourage an environmentally conscious workplace including reducing the use of single-use plastics, recycling schemes, green travel, a biodiversity action plan and many other initiatives. It's a huge task and there will always be much to do but it's helping us to play a meaningful role in making a better world.
